Scuttlebutt - January 4

January 4, 2023
Well, one way or another, for better or for worse, (or both,)  we made it to '23!

I'm always focused on looking forward into the future of strings, and the best indicator of where we are headed is often found by looking back at what we were talking about this year.

So I put together a Best-of collection for my For the Greater Groove Podcast . Just the highlights of my conversations from 2022, (with short musical excerpts,) starting with the Zach Brock episode from January and including Natalie Haas , Sara Caswell , Billy Contreras , Roberto Sierra , Diana Ladio , Danny Seidenberg , Sirius Quartet , Tomoko Akaboshi , Mark Summer , Mia Asano , Eugene Friesen and Daniel Bernard Roumain

If you only have time to listen to one episode of the show, this is it!  The Best of '22: All Killer, No Filler!  I hope you'll find it entertaining and thought-provoking.

All Killer, No Filler
It was great to do a run of 6 shows at the Musical Instrument Museum Theater with my long-time musical partner Jim Brickman and vocalist extraordinaire John Trones .
Speaking of long-time collaborators, the MIM has the original Drumitar built by my musical partner Roy "Futureman" Wooten
And how cool to be watching the Nashville NYE show and see my former student, former next door neighbor, former babysitter and current rock star, Lars Thorson , crushing it with Kane Brown on national TV!
And in more rockstar friend news, how wonderful to open the latest copy of Strings Magazine and find my friend and podcast guest Mia Asano  with a big 2-page feature! She's part of my podcast Best-of compilation above.
