Scuttlebutt - November 16

November 16, 2022
Had the honor to play at the opening of an inspiring exhibit of etchings and drawings by Rembrandt, Goya and Dürer at the Monthaven Arts and Cultural Center  in a historic building just outside Nashville in Hendersonville, TN.

One of my oldest buddies in the biz, Mark Wood --we go back to 1980!--was in town rocking the kids at a Nashville area high school with his incredible Electrify Your Symphony program and stopped by to strategize about the future of strings. Mark made some of the first ever 6-string violins back around 1979 or '80 and within a year or so, I heard about it and we were making them together. I've been teaching at his game-changing MWROC camp for years, and I always tell all the kids, "Anyone who plays an electric violin today owes a debt of gratitude to Mark Wood!" Mark singlehandedly changed the scene for electric string players with his Wood Violins . Rock on, my brother!

Attended the opening of the multi-media concert/film created by my former student Tim Kampen (not in either of these pictures, haha--click the image below to see him in the trailer.) Can't overstate how proud I was to see this ambitious project come to fruition after years of hard and dedicated work. Bravo, Tim! Follow Tim and Reignite on Instagram.
